读完这篇小说，我发现，老人的故事不仅象征着人与自然的关系，而且象征着整个人类坚不可摧的精神。在现实中，他虽然失败了，但在精神上，他却是胜利者。在这里，老人不仅仅是代表着一个人，而是代表了一股力量，一种精神，那是让人敬佩的坚韧不拔，永不服输的精神。我也十分佩服小说中老渔夫的意志,他让我懂得了一个人一定要坚强，不能遇到一点挫折就败退，这样永远也做不成一件事。
